Nigerian Muslims to Enjoy Extended Weekend for Eid al-Adha
The Nigerian Federal Government has declared Monday, June 17th, and Tuesday, June 18th, 2024, as public holidays to celebrate the important Islamic holiday of Eid al-Adha, also known as Eid-ul-Adha.
Minister of Interior Makes Official Announcement
The announcement was made on Friday in Abuja by the Minister of Interior, **Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo**, on behalf of the Federal Government.
Eid al-Adha: A Time for Reflection and Celebration
Minister Tunji-Ojo extended warm wishes to the Muslim community (Ummah) in Nigeria and abroad. He highlighted the significance of Eid al-Adha, a time to embody the spirit of peace, kindness, and sacrifice, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (PBUH). The Minister encouraged Nigerians to use this period for prayer, seeking national unity, prosperity, and stability.
